Rania Malas is an artist whose work explores identity, heritage, transformation, and the beauty of the natural world. Through abstract realism, layered textures, florals, animals, and portraiture, she creates paintings that invite reflection and emotional connection.
Her work draws from both personal and cultural influences, often weaving together symbolism, memory, and the visual language of nature. Each painting is an exploration of the stories, emotions, and connections that shape who we are.
I am a contemporary artist based in the United States, with Syrian and Lebanese roots that deeply influence my creative practice. My work explores identity, heritage, transformation, memory, and our connection to the natural world. Through layered textures, vibrant color, symbolism, mixed media, portraiture, animals, and abstract realism, I create paintings that invite reflection and emotional connection.

Rania Malas is a contemporary artist based in the United States, with Syrian and Lebanese roots that continue to influence her creative practice. Her work explores color, texture, memory, identity, and connection, often weaving cultural influences together with elements of nature, portraiture, symbolism, and abstract realism.
Her creative journey began at the age of five, when she felt compelled to express herself artistically by creating a mural on her bedroom wall—with her mother’s lipstick. Her mother was, understandably, less than thrilled, but that little mural marked an early instinct to follow her creative voice.
Over the years, Rania explored many creative pursuits while ultimately pursuing the more structured and practical path of engineering. Later, she stepped away from her career to care for her growing family. As her children became older and more independent, her desire to create returned with a renewed sense of purpose.
Rania began painting seriously in 2011 and soon sold her first painting to a talented interior designer, an experience that encouraged her to continue developing her artistic practice. Her journey remained somewhat intermittent as family responsibilities naturally took priority, but the desire to create never disappeared.
In 2024, Rania discovered the Milan Art Institute, an experience that reignited her passion for painting and transformed the way she approached her art. In 2026, she completed the Mastery Program at Milan Art Institute, refining her technical process and deepening her command of layered acrylic techniques and oil painting.
Today, Rania creates richly layered mixed-media paintings that draw from both personal experience and cultural memory. Her work is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and discover something of your own story within the layers.
